From hand-painted ceramics to distinct furniture, Mackenzie-Childs brings together artistry and tradition to create a distinctive line of decorative home accessories to the corporate incentive market, says Annette Jensen, Director of Sales, Corporate Business. She joined the company this year after nearly 30 years in sales at Victorinox Swiss Army, a long-time supplier to the corporate market.
Founded in 1983 in Aurora, in New York’s Finger Lakes region, the company got its start in ceramics, expanded into enamelware, and now has a complete line of distinctive home decor items sold in most high-end department stores. “Everything we do is unique, so that they are not just useful home décor products, they are works of art. MacKenzie-Childs is about bringing artistic design to everyday items used in the home,” according to the company.
Launched in an old dormitory near its current location, the company started with crafting unique designs consistent with its own sense of style. It now offers enamelware, furniture, home accessories and seasonable décor, “all infused with a sense of wonder and personality,” the company says. The made in Aurora pieces are “crafted on-site and our belief in handmade character is infused throughout our many collections, from hand-applied patterns to hand-built furniture.” The company's signature look is a black-and-white courtly check pattern, and there are floral and other collections as well.
Jensen explains, “It's all about the experience. The fact that our products are hand-painted and crafted and infused with personality carries an emotional appeal.” For incentive, recognition, and loyalty catalog programs, Jensen feels the most appropriate products are the company’s lines of table- and drinkware, serveware, home decor, pet and outdoor. “Our products tell a story.”
In addition to incentive and recognition programs, she sees opportunities for the line in continuity and other types of promotional programs, corporate, and even event gifting for groups.
The brand features many collections, each with a pattern incorporated into its comprehensive line of home décor and accessories, including kitchen and dining, décor, seasonal items, and furniture for indoors and outdoors.
